Opening

The sign of the cross may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

In the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
hear me and answer me.

Evening, morning, and noon
I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice.

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:1-2a, 17, 22

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Psalmody

Psalm 4
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!”
7 You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. (ESV)

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Reading

1 Corinthians 7:17;23-24
17 Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

23 You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men.
24 So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God. (ESV)

Prayers

O Lord, have mercy upon us.
O Christ, have mercy upon us.
O Lord, have mercy upon us.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9-13

Almighty God, Heavenly Father, who through Your Holy Spirit governs and sanctifies the whole Christian Church, and has given us the Comforter to be our Advocate and Guide. Grant, we implore You, to direct, sanctify, and govern both our hearts and bodies in the ways of Your laws. Enlighten and lead us into all truth and evermore defend us from all adversities, that, being made Your children by grace, we may daily be renewed by Your Spirit, and live in the continual comfort and peace of the Gospel. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
